Our community was incorporated in 1983 as one of the first gated communities on Vero Beach’s north barrier island.  Situated on the Atlantic oceanfront in a lush setting of live oaks and sabal palms, Sea Oaks Beach and Tennis Club at inception was comprised of a two-story Georgian-style Beach Club, with adjoining pool, deck and gazebo, and a two-story plantation-style Tennis Club with 16 Har-Tru tennis courts.  A tennis pavilion with stadium-like seating was added in 1990.  The first residences were tennis villas near the Tennis Club and cottages designed to create an Old Florida look with their wood design and wide, screened porches.  These were followed by oceanfront condos, river and lakeside villas, courtyard and courtside homes and river homes.  The final dwellings constructed by 2007.   In 2009, the facilities at the Tennis Club were enhanced through the construction of an adjacent Community Center housing a state-of-the-art fitness center.

Over the years Sea Oaks has been recognized in publications for both the special charm of its landscaping and ambiance, as well as its exceptional tennis program.  The original developer, eager to highlight the tennis facility, brought Australian Fred Stolle on board. For several years thereafter, we hosted the Sea Oaks Classic – which attracted a number of tennis greats, including Cliff Drysdale, Roy Emerson, Ilie Nastase, Evonne Goolagong and Mary Jo Fernandez.

Sea Oaks is one of only a few communities on Vero Beach’s barrier island with a full service Beach Club and many other amenities that appeal to tennis players and non-tennis players alike.  We take pride in our active, comfortable lifestyle.  The “Sea Oaks Spirit” is embraced by the more than 1000 residents who care about one another, live together, play together, dine together and work together to benefit those inside and outside our community.
